Stan Custer, Jr. • President
Stan’s commitment to quality and process improvement drives Custer Homes’ continuing evolution to meet, and at times guide, the needs of custom home buyers and businesses looking for custom office space. With a bachelor’s degree in finance and business management from Juniata College, Stan Custer, Jr. spent years gaining practical homebuilding experience working for his father, the founder of Custer Homes, before becoming president of the company in 1986. Stan’s leadership in the industry includes terms as President of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg and President of the “Hammers” Builder 20 Club, the first professional custom builder group formed by the National Association of Home Builders. In 2009 Stan earned his Certified Green Professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders.
Renée Custer • Chief Operating Officer
Renée ensures that the daily activities of The Custer Group operate efficiently and effectively. She is the third Custer generation to join the family business, and enjoys interacting with clients to help make their vision a reality and their experience enjoyable. In 2015, Renée received the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg “Women of Excellence” award for her dedication to community, and she currently serves on the Executive Committee of The Women’s Fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, the Board of Directors of Harrisburg Young Professionals, and is active in The Hill Society.
Lee Gehman • Chief Financial Officer
Lee is the financial manager for The Custer Group. Joining Custer Homes, Inc. in 1999, Lee’s vast experience in the home building industry included 15 years in construction management with a luxury custom homebuilder. He is certified in architectural drafting & design and handicapped-accessible housing design, and holds an associate’s degree in finance from Harrisburg Area Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Lebanon Valley College. In 2011, Central Penn Business Journal named Lee “CFO of the Year” in the Small Private Business category.
Cheryl Garman • Financial & Administrative Assistant
Cheryl joined the Custer Group of Companies in April 2001. Her career path includes work in banking, finance, and the securities industries. Cheryl is often the first contact you will enjoy at The Custer Group and she is known for her unfailing cheerfulness and her infectious enthusiasm. In addition to her front office duties, she is in charge of accounts payable, payroll, assisting the design staff and assisting with our information technology needs. Cheryl’s passion and dedication to her job were recognized when she received the “Best Account Assistant” award from by Home Builders Association.
Jenny Thomas • Design Services Manager
Jenny joined the Custer team with the formation of Custer Design Group, Inc. in June of 2000. Jenny is a graduate of the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design, and has 30 years of diversified experience in interior and lighting design. Jenny enjoys helping with the many decisions that go into making the client’s experience a pleasant fulfillment of their dreams. In 2011, Jenny Thomas was awarded “Best Interior Designer of the Year” by the Harrisburg Home Builder’s Association.
Courtney Warren • Interior Designer
Courtney joined the Custer team in January of 2019 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Robert E. Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a dual baccalaureate in Interior Design and History. Courtney’s excellence in her studies awarded her the Dr. Christine Wilson Kesner Award for Design Excellence – an award given to only one graduating student in Interior Design each year. She studied abroad in Florence, Italy, and credits her time abroad with greatly impacting her perspective on design. Courtney enjoys working with clients on projects of all sizes, in both residential and commercial capacities.
